CHAMPIONS CHOICE PROTECT ALL
One-stop bike detailing
KEEPING OUR FLEET OF LONG-TERM testbikes washed and polished can be a full-time job, especially during Southern California’s winter rainy season. Any product that makes the task easier is a welcome complement to the CW garage.
Champions Choice Protect All from Protect All, Inc. (1910 East Via Burton St., Anaheim, CA 92806; 800/3224491) is designed to clean, polish and protect practically every motorcyclerelated surface, including aluminum, chrome, fiberglass, plastic, rubber, stainless steel and vinyl, not to mention other non-bike materials such as formica, marble, tile and wood.
We’ve tried the petroleum-based product on faceshields, fairings, custom-painted helmets, mufflers, saddlebags, seats, windscreens and wheels with excellent results. Best used on rel-
atively clean surfaces-those not covered with miles of road dirt and grime-Protect All makes quick work of bugs, brake dust, dirt, grease and water spots, leaving a glossy, streak-free shine. When buffed out, it’s not too slippery for vinyl seat covers, either.
What’s more, a small amount of the creamy, non-abrasive liquid goes a long way, which makes it easier to swallow the 16-ounce, trigger-actuated bottle’s $13 suggested retail. (A 6-ounce trigger, an 8-ounce pump and a 13.5-ounce aerosol spray are also available.)
While it may eliminate the need for a storage cabinet full of polishes and waxes, Protect All is not a speedy substitute for regular bike washing. Rather, it’s an effective cleaning solution/polishing agent for those times when bucket and sponge are not readily at hand, or absolutely necessary.
