SUPERMOTARD STRIKES AGAIN

ROUNDUP

SUPERMOTARD RACing (see Cycle World, February, 1994) has spawned two road machines based on the dirt-street hybrids. Husqvarna has one and Cagiva will debut its own version later this year.

Cagiva’s machine will be the 600cc Super City, and is expected to appear at October’s Cologne Show. The bike will use a 34-horsepower

four-stroke Single housed in an aluminum frame from a 125cc Mito sportbike.

Husky’s 610 Supermotard Replica is based on the 610 Enduro, but it gets wide, 17inch wheels that accommodate premium street tires, along with shorter gearing and a minimal complement of lights. With 60 horsepower propelling about 250 pounds, it’s no surprise that Fast Bikes, a British publication, reports the replica slides the rear wheel under power as easily as it lifts the front. Light weight, sticky tires and acres of ground clearance add up to prodigious cornering abilities, according to Fast Bikes. Robert Hough
