ARMY JOINS KIDD
General William L. Mundie, Commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command has announced that National No. 72 Mike Kidd will be fully sponsored by the U.S. Army for the 1979 AMA/ Winston Pro Series season. The sponsorship deal marks the first time a rider on the AMA circuit has been sponsored by any organization not directly affiliated with motorsports. There’s no missing Kidd at the races, since he’s plastered with ARMY on his helmet, both legs, both arms, chest, back and both sides of his bikes. We can hardly wait until the Navy, Marines, Air Force. Coast Guard et al see the light and field their own riders. One last thing: There is no truth to the rumor that Kidd will be forced to enlist if he doesn’t win the Winston Pro Championship.
