2011 Triumph Sprint GT
That's GT as in Grand Touring, mate
ROUNDUP
FIVE YEARS AFTER THE DEBUT OF ITS 1050cc Sprint ST, Triumph has introduced a replacement with greater practicality and more emphasis on the "touring" end of "sporttouring": the Sprint GT.
The GT features a taller, better-performing fairing, says Triumph, restyled to give a more contemporary look while retaining the distinctive three-light Sprint design. An updated version of Triumph's fuel-injected 1050cc Triple is said to offer excellent real-world
performance, with the emphasis on midrange rather than peak power: Triumph claims 80 foot-pounds of torque at 6300 rpm,
and 130 horsepower at 9200 rpm.
An all-new set of saddlebags and a low-mount exhaust put the G into GT—along with standard ABS, a 5.3-gallon gas tank, an optional top box capable of ingesting two fullsized helmets, and a 12-volt power supply. The Sprint GT will be available in U.S. dealerships this fall as an early-release 2011 model for $13,199. —John Burns
