Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter For Real
SUZUKI ANNOUNCED THAT ITS BURGMAN Fuel Cell scooter has gained Whole Vehicle Type Approval in the European Union, becoming the world’s first fuelcell vehicle to gain approval for safe use on public roads without having to be inspected and tested individually. The Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter debuted at the 41 st Tokyo Motor Show in October, 2009, and has been undergoing testing in the U.K. for more than a year while gaining WVTA.
A fuel cell produces electricity through a reaction between hydrogen and oxy gen in the air, discharging only water while providing zero-emissions power.
(We’re holding out for the motocross bike that waters its own track.)
Produced in a joint collaboration between Suzuki and British company
Intelligent Energy, this scoot is based on the petrol-powered Burgman, and Suzuki claims it boasts the same “impressive performance” as an internalcombustion model.
Suzuki says it’s working toward making the Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter a commercially available vehicle as hydrogen filling stations and “other necessary infrastructure” come online.
