Gracing the cover was a blue-and-white Suzuki CiS1150ES popping off of an all-black background. It was the quickest production hike cycle World had ever tested in the quarter-mile (10.94@125 mph). The GS's speed and acceleration were praised but not its heft and how that weight affected handling. The inside covers featured a Ilonda 1 000 1 nterceptor ad and one for the Metzeler ME33 Laser tire that looked like it was straight out of the movie Tmii. A product highlight of a Malcolm Smith ISDE Enduro Jacket in New Ideas made me want one now as much as I did back then.

•Round Up was filled with cov erage from the Tokyo and Milan motorcycle shows. Good news for Italian bike lovers: Laverda, l3tmota, Ducati and Moto Morini all launched new models there. Moto Guzzi and Benelli (both owned at the time by auto maker Maserati) promised a new U.S. importer and plans fi~r major expansion. We're still waiting...

S Dirt coverage included tests of the Honda XR250 and 200. After the stall rode Red for hundreds of miles. from dawn until dusk, their only issue with the bikes was that they were hard to start; otherwise, the C()I1SCflSUS was that these were well-balanced machi lies.

•ln Race I1'2itc/,, Kent 11 owerton announced a move from the 500 to 250cc moto cross class with the intention of hunting down Bob I-Iannah. Another RW item stated that reigning Superbike champion Wayne Rainey was oil to Europe to ride a 250cc Grand Prix bike for Kenny Roberts' team. Mark Cernickiy
