Alaska Leather Sheepskin Buttpad

Natural solution for burning behinds

MOTORCYCLE MANUFACTURERS DEvotc a lot of energy and time to seat design, but considering the varied shapes

and sizes of the human posterior (think Twiggy vs. JLo), perfection seems improbable. Help is on the way from as unlikely a place as our 49th state. Alaska Leather’s Sheepskin Buttpad is a removable seat cover designed to reduce perspiration and the resulting burning sensation often experienced on long rides, letting air circulate through the all-natural leather membrane and nap, while providing increased support for your lower pressure points.

Alaska Leather’s sheepskins originate and are tanned in Australia, but owner Barb Smart and her crew cut and sew each example into specific solo or two-up shapes. Finish options are varied. We tested a black, Grade-B Rally Special in size Large ( 18 x 18 inches). Different dimensions, hair lengths and colors (including electric

blue and pink!) are available, as is a Grade-A Deluxe model with a higherqua lity, seamless fleece (shown). Installation takes just a few minutes using a single elasticized snap-down strap. The pad was tested on a variety of cruiser, dual-sport and touring bikes and given two thumbs-up for enhanced com fort. Many miles left our sample look ing a bit haggard, but a gentle wash, airdry and quick brushing renewed its fluff and original feel. Just like a comfort able pair of riding gloves or boots, it's now a fix ture in our stable of riding gear.
