Givi Arrow SaddIeba~s

Expandable, soft-shell aIternativ'~ to hard luggage

WITH MOTORCYCLING BECOMING MORE niche-oriented, universal add-ons popular in years past are less common. All hope is not lost, however, as indicated by Arrow soft saddlebags from Italian accessory-maker Givi. Though not marketed as all-bike-capable, these cordura/vinyl haul-alls fit a remarkably wide range of machines, from cruisers to repli-racers and dual-purpose bikes.

Three adjustable nylon straps make for simple throw-over (or underseat) attachment, while plastic

D-rings accommodate bungee cords should you desire added hold-down security. Like some other models of Givi soft bags, the Arrows feature zippered expansion panels, in this case broadening per-bag storage capacity from 19 to 25 liters. Zippered side pockets trimmed in faux carbon-fiber hold maps and other smaller items.

We tested the Arrows on a thousandmile, three-day weekend getaway. The bags’ versatile design offers plenty of space for clothing and other necessities, and once strapped in place, didn’t foul our passenger’s feet. Following a 15-minute downpour, we expected to open the bags and find their contents soaking wet, as we hadn’t stopped to throw on the supplied raincovers. But we were pleasantly surprised to find our clothes just as dry as when we had packed them.

Lightweight, versatile and affordably priced, the Arrows deserve a

serious look come luggage-buying time. No matter what type of motorcycle you ride. □
