MALAGUTI GOES MOTOGP
First Italjet, now Malaguti... The latest Italian scooter manufacturer to join the 125cc MotoGP wars is Bologna-based Malaguti. Already Europe’s third-largest stepthrough manufacturer-and known for its sporty Ducati Corse Replica models-Malaguti is entering the motorcycle market this year with a line of 50s and 200s, so the roadracing connection makes perfect sense.
The 125cc two-stroke Single was developed with the aid of Engines Engineering, while Ducati Energia assisted with the electronics and Paioli helped with the suspension. Running the effort for the next three years will be former 125cc World Champions Team Semprucci, with reigning Italian 125cc National Champion Fabrizio Lai and one other rider to be named later. -Brian Catterson
