MZ'S SUPERCHARGED SUPERTWIN

Forthcoming MZs will be powered by a supercharged 750cc parallel-Twin capable of making 128 horsepower at the crankshaft, reports England's weekly Motor Cycle News. Germany's Weber, which teamed with Swissauto to develop MZ's pole-position-winning, 500cc, two-stroke V-Four GP racer, is be hind the new powerplant. "We've tested 'blown' engines that have delivered more than the 128 hhp we are quoting," said company spokesman Wolf Hawlitscheck. "We are very confident of the power they will produce." A 900cc version of the liquid-cooled, dohc, eight valve engine is also under consideration. In the future, Weber hopes to compete with Rotax, which currently supplies engines to Aprilia, ATK and BMW, among others
