ULTIMATE TOWING MACHINE?
Is this Yuppie Heaven or what? A Bimmer towing a Beemer on-get this-a BMW trailer? Hey, if Munich included a trophy wife as part of this package, the Silicon Valley would be overrun with the things!
What we have here is BMW’s new Multi-Trailer, all Euro-chic’ed out with colormatched molding and cool wheels. Beneath the bodywork is twin trailing-arm independent suspension and a couple of drum brakes. To haul bikes, you’ll need the optional “motorcycle module,” an impressively heavy-duty front-wheel bar constructed of 2-inch steel tubing-call it the Chock of Gibraltar. You’ll also want the neato expandable loading ramp that stows in a compartment behind the fold-down license plate. Clever stuff. Also of note is the hardware, all a good grade or two above the usual horse-trailer hand-me-downs.
Figure about $3600 for the base Multi-Trailer, $195 for each chock, $995 for the ramp. Factor in, oh, say an extra 48,000 samolians for the X-5 sport-ute and a measly $17K for the K1200RS to be fully road-readyl You’re on your own with Buffy...
