BREAKIN' THE RULES
Want what may well be the fastest middleweight on the market? Then get on down to your Kawasaki dealer, because there’s no replacement for displacement. Per AMA Supersport rules, the new ZX-6RR is restricted to 600cc. Though virtually identical otherwise, the ZX-6R gets a rompin’, stompin’ 636cc a la last year’s Euro-only Ninja. In addition, it has a conventional clutch (the RR’s slipper unit fits, Kawasaki claims) and a non-adjustable swingarm pivot.
There are four color choices-black, blue, red and silver-whereas the RR only comes in oreen. Which one’s heftier? Surprise! An unofficial weigh-in had the more pedestrian 6R slipping in 1 pound lighter than the racier RR. Go figure... Matthew Miles
