Black Diamond Bullet Pack

CW EVALUATIONS

Not-so-small sack

SO THERE WAS THIS CHICK, GOLDilocks. And she liked things just so-not too big and not too small. Just right, in other words. Kinda like the Bullet Pack from Black Diamond.

If you’ve never heard of Black Diamond, you’re not alone. Employeeowned since 1989, it’s not a motorcycle-oriented firm per se. Instead, the Utah-based company caters mostly to hikers, rock climbers and backcountry skiers. But it does manufacture some products that could be considered cross-

over. The Bullet Pack is one such item.

Designed with outdoorsy types in mind, the 1600-denier ballistics-nylon pack is also good for motorcycling. It has wide, padded, adjustable shoulder straps with extra (also adjustable) strappage at the chest and waist; two beefy zippers that secure the main compartment; a zip-up outer pocket running the length of the bag; and double-stitching all around.

While getting jacketed arms through the bag’s many straps is a little challenging, adjusting them and securing the quick-release fasteners is a cinch. Once in place, the pack is comfortable and doesn’t move around. This holds true whether it’s almost empty or stuffed to the gills.

Admittedly, the simple design doesn’t hold as much as its courierstyle counterparts, but it accommo-

dates items most commuters need. A pair of shoes, sack lunch and sweatshirt all fit. Like that blonde girl said, just right. □
