Belstaff Interceptor Jacket
CW EVALUATION
Leatherwear for the hottest temps
THE SUMMER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORnia is not a season to be trifled with. After all, SoCal is essentially a desert. Which means that it can get downright sweltering. With this in mind, we set out to find a riding jacket that would be protective while remaining cool in the heat. We discovered Belstaff's Interceptor Jacket.
Fashioned from drumdyed grade-A leather, the waist-length wrap has T-foam armor at the elbows, shoulders and lower back, as well as an integrated kidney belt. Keviar pan els line the inner arms and sides, three pockets provide storage, and a nylon zipper and velcro secure the neck and elasticized waist. Furthermore, the Interceptor zips to Beistaff's leather pants and will accommo
date an optional snapout liner for the cold. But most impor tantly, the chest pan els are perforated. This means that at speed, the hole-rid dled design and the wind work wonders, keep ing the wearer cool in tem peratures of up to a Godawful 110 degrees. The only down side is that frequent stops incur sauna-like conditions. Minor complaint consid ering that in the pro tection department, the
jacket is also a success: The armor is sturdy yet pliant, and stays in place. The bottom line, then? The reason ably priced Interceptor is a comfort able, protective jacket that stays cool when the going gets hot.
