HARLEY'S KC CONNECTION

Kansas City, here they come. Harley-Davidson Sportsters, that is, following the opening of an $85-mil lion, 330,000-square-foot assembly plant on the outskirts of the city. Even tually all Sporty production will be transferred to the new facility, which currently employs 200 workers. With the new plant online, H-D expects to build 145,000 bikes this year, up from 131,000 in 1997.

NEW KID ON THE BLOCK

We welcome a new addition to CW's staff this month, Associate Edi tor Paul Seredynski. Paul arrived from Hachette's New York office where he was an editor at sister publication Video, spend ing the last two years banging el bows with New York's cabbies and generally pay ing too much for everything. He hails originally from New England, rode his first motorcycle at age 9, misspent his youth on enduro bikes in the woods of eastern Connecticut and began roadracing four years ago. A graduate of the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Paul pulled a five-year stint at an entertainment magazine based in Virginia before heading to New York.
