VULCAN GOES TOURING
Kawasaki has unveiled the 1500 Nomad, a touring-oriented cruiser based on the Vulcan 1500 Classic. While the Nomad shares the Classic’s new K-TRIC ignition and revised-ratio five-speed transmission, it’s more than just a Vulcan with cop-bike windshield and hard saddlebags. Specifically, the Nomad gets a sturdier chassis, thicker seat, cast wheels, bigger radiator, triple-disc brakes, revised floorboard positioning, higher-output alternator and 2-into-2 exhaust. Price has not been finalized, but the bike, which is scheduled for an April ’98 release, should list for less than $12,000.
