C'MON AND TAKE A FREE RIDE

You can thank today's litigious society for the demise of that time-honored freebie, the dealership demo ride. MAICO BACK FROM THE DEAD?

One of the dirtbike world’s grand old marques, Maico, started by the Maisch family back in 1926, may be back in business. Closed since 1987, Maico has been purchased by a Dutch company, Rodem, which plans to move the company from Germany to Holland and restart a range of liquid-cooled two-stroke dirtbikes.

LAVERDA'S SUPER THREE

Laverda’s forthcoming threecylinder, 900cc Superbike engine will be extremely compact, claim company sources. The liquidcooled, fuel-injected inline-Triple is actually smaller in overall dimensions than the company’s current air/oil-cooled parallel-Twin. “This is not a Triumph!” says one insider, a sly dig at the beefy British Triple.
