WHAT WE RIDE AND WHERE
One of motorcycling’s most wonderful aspects is its sheer diversity. There would seem to be a corner of motorcycling for every rider, no matter what his taste. These pie charts demonstrate that diversity by reflecting what kinds of bikes are out there, and where they’re used. The percentages are based
on an estimated 6.83 million motorcycles, scooters and ATVs in use in the U.S. in 1991, the most recent year for which figures exist. It is estimated that more than half this total have engine displacements of less than 350cc, and that about 36 percent of the total was purchased new within the last five years.
