DUCATI'S IL MONSTRO AWOL
Problems with suppliers of special components have caused production of Ducati's M900 "II Monstro" muscle bike, originally slated to commence in early February, to be set back to late March.
The company plans to build 3000 M900s, and because the bike uses a variety of components not common to other machines in the Ducati line, is at the mercy of the suppliers of those components.
With M900 customers beating on dealers’ doors around the world, Ducati is under considerable pressure to commence production. Cagiva Group executives are promising an inquest into the problem to insure that it is not repeated during the launch of the 916 Superbike, now undergoing road testing and scheduled for launch late this year.
