KAINZINGER STRIKES AGAIN

Remember Herbert Kainzinger? His stunning Yamaha V-Max (King Maximum, June, 1997) produced 240 rearwheel horsepower and weighed a mere 422 pounds. Well, ol' Herbert is at it again, this time massaging a limited number of Bimota SB6Rs. Each bike’s liquid-cooled, Suzuki GSX-R1100based engine will displace 1266cc, and produce 190 horsepower and 107 footpounds of torque. Sleek carbon-fiber bodywork should help the aluminumframed, 419-pound machine exceed 200 mph. Pricing will start at $44,000. More information is available from Kainzinger at 011-49-6206-963-298.

BIKE NET NOT

Bike Net, the leading Internet-based motorcycle magazine in Britain, has closed its popular website. A lack of advertising revenue was blamed, despite some 3 million “hits” during the site’s three-year lifespan.

SAVE MONZA!

Plans are afoot to demolish the historic high-banked curves of the old Monza race circuit in Italy. British motorsports columnist Chris Balfe is overseeing a petition to save the landmark. So far, former Formula One World Champions Jack Brabham, Phil Hill and Jody Scheckter have signed on, as has film director John Frankenheimer, who utilized the famous facility during the filming of his auto-racing classic, Grand Prix. Anyone interested in adding his name to the petition may do so at Balfe’s website, http://wkweb5. cableinet, co. uk/ferrari/monza_camp. htm.

BRAZILIAN HARLEYS

Hartey-Davidson has established operations in Brazil. Beginning next year,

The Motor Company will produce motorcycles in the city of Manaus, an economic free-trade zone. “The desire for Hartey-Davidson motorcycles in Brazil and other South American countries has never been greater, but trade restraints limit their availability and steep import tariffs inflate the prices of our motorcycles so that often only the very affluent enthusiast can afford one,” said H-D President and CEO Jeff Bleustein. “Those restraints and tariffs are lessened by shipping American-made components and sub-assemblies to Brazil for final assembly, allowing us to meet the needs of more enthusiasts.”

FINANCING MADE EASY

Transamerica Distribution Finance has developed a new retail financing program. Available through motorcycle dealers, the Multi Vehicle Products Retail program offers competitive retail terms and 30-minute credit-application approval. “The program provides the kind of one-stop-shopping environment that our customers have been asking for,” said Tom Green, department sales director. TDF also plans to introduce a credit card that consumers may use to purchase parts, accessories and service. For more information, call 800/421-4304.
