IF YOU LIVE IN THEMIDwest, and if you have any interest at all in dirt-track racing, grab your 1989 calendar and block out the third weekend in August. That’s when next year’s Peoria TT should be run.
Take our word for it: Peoria is something special. You’d have to work really hard not to have a great time at this race. There are numerous reasons why, most of which are explained in the Peoria TT story beginning on page 59 of this issue.

And only at Peoria can you sit on a shaded hillside and watch the best dirt racers in the world fly past at 80 mph, 10 feet in the air, and realize that spectators have been doing the very same thing for more than 40 years.
By the way, the insider’s motel at Peoria is the Brandywine Holiday Inn. If you stay there, you just might see Bubba Shobert at breakfast or Scotty Parker swimming in the indoor pool. Oh, and have a good time at the race.
