SUZUKI TM 250

PREVIEW:

A SHORT TIME AGO, while the editor and one of his associates were visiting U.S. Suzuki's posh facility (picking up this month's prime road test candidate, the 500-Five, is what they were doing), they were honored with a look-see at an even newer model than the fire-breathing twin.

The S.izuki 250-cc TM Motocross is new and it isn't. It"*; new in that its existence is not widely known, and plans are still being firmed up with regard to making it available to private riders. Several developmental "workhorse" models have been campaigned in Furope and Japan during the past two seasons. Success at home has been pretty good for Suzuki, but they have been plagued with all manner of problems on the 250 CîP circuit in Europe. Handling

ills and frame fractures were their constant companions. Not surprisingly — considering its national heritage — the TM's engine was strong and sturdy, so the makeit-right game was not as difficult as it might have been.

As long-time advocates of race breeding, CYCLI: WORLD views Suzuki's 250 motocross project with admiration, satisfied from what we've seen that the TM has been given the careful thought necessary to produce a sophisticated contender in the rigorous and exacting sport of motocross.

Quite soon, perhaps within the month, we will have the TM for a full-fledged road test and technical analysis. In the meantime, CW shares with you this exciting piece of equipment. ■
