KARYBIKE TRAILERS

A new, lightweight, bolt-it-together yourself motorcycle trailer has been introduced by Karybike Trailers of Santa Barbara, Calif. It has large, automotive-type wheels, heavy-duty forged axles, and one to three channels to hold the motorcycle wheels firmly in place. The bike is kept upright with nylon webbing.

BC1300T TRAIL MINI

For people who need a trail machine, but must keep compactness as their highest consideration, the BC1300T Trail MiniBike by Bonanza Industries may fill the bill.

It's easy to learn to ride one of these things, and its features include a carrying pack, spark arrester, front and rear suspension, double seat, and big knobby tires.

GARELLI/1967-68

Heading the Garelli Group line for the 1967-68 span is the KL-150 Gladiator, with 150-cc/ 18.6-bhp ohv engine, fitted to a four-speed gearbox. The machine features front and rear Ceriani suspension and Pirelli tires.

Companion for the Gladiator is the 97-cc/ 11,6-bhp two-cycle Sachs-engined KL-100 Gypsy. The lighter machine's suspension also is by Ceriani.

Both feature magneto/battery electrical systems, multiple disc wet clutches, and fittings for off-the-road work.

SWEPT BACK BARS

Daytona Products, Inc., Dept. CW-12, 7030 Darby Ave., P.O. Box 1094, Reseda, CA 91335, offers a new line of handlebars in swept back design. Identified as "FastBac," the bars are manufactured of heavy gauge steel tubing, and are triple chromium plated. The sports model features a square section cross member for added strength. Models are available for motorcycles from 160 to 750 cc. Prices are from $8.50 to $12.95. (Continued on page 20)

TEN FROM DUCATI

Ducati Meccanica announces a 1968 line which includes 10 machines, from the 100-cc Brio scooter to a new 350-cc scrambles bike. Berliner Motor Corp., Dept. CW-12, Hasbrouck Heights. N. J., U.S. distributor for Ducati, reports that a number of Berliner-inspired changes, aimed directly at the American motorcycle market, are incorporated in the '68 Ducati presentation.

For example, scramblers, in both 250 cc and 350 cc categories, are equipped with a new, light competition-duty fork, a double-acting tele-hydraulic unit with a jounce-rebound travel of 6.5 in. Other 1968 features for scrambles bikes are smoother looking fenders, deeper competition-type saddle, and three-way adjustable rear shock absorbers, the latter fitted with dust and muck resistant bellows boots. The 250 cc and 350 cc machines carry 27mm and 29mm Dellorto carburetors, respectively. The two models share crankcases, a type previously used on successful Formula III competition machines.

Ducati's Diana Mk. Ill for 1968 displays a number of internal technical advances. Improved starting, electricals, camshaft and exhaust system are claimed for the Diana. Diana features include 150mph speedometer, 12,000-rpm tachometer, megaphone and plexiglass windscreen/ numberplate. Included in the package are sports handlebars, street muffler, air cleaner, and an assortment of carburetor jets and valve springs.

Road machines in the '68 Ducati lineup are the Monza Jr., with 160-cc high compression engine; the 250 cc Monza, offered in a variety of striking color combinations; and the 350 cc Sebring.

Ducati lightweights for 1968 are the 100-cc two-stroke Cadet street machine and the Mountaineer trail bike.

The BRIO motorscooter on page 22 features three speeds and a fan-cooled engine.

TINY TRANSPORTER

Newly available from Cal-Jet, Inc.. Dept. CW-12, 430 N. Rodeo Drive. Beverly Hills. Calif., is the Mini-Truck, powered by either 50or 90-cc Minarelli two-cycle engine. The Mini-Truck can serve as a package delivery vehicle, golf cart, personnel carrier, or sportsman's campinghunting-fishing wagon. Up to 100 mpg fuel economy is claimed for the tiny Italian-built vehicle. Options include an enclosed cab and an enclosed van body for protection of driver and cargo. Retail prices start at $700. HERE COMES ITAL-JET

It's amazing what contortions they'll put a girl through to help sell a motorcycle. After all, everybody knows that a girl beeps the horn on a bike by leaning back on the taillight with all her weight and tapping the horn button with her foot. Right?

So if you'll tear your eyes away for a moment, we'll note that Ital-Jet is now imported and distributed by Roma Motorcycle Co., Inc., 6264 Van Nuys Blvd., Dept. CW, Van Nuys, Calif. 91401. The company announces that they have a complete stock of spares for the sporty Italian lightweight mounts, which are available from 50cc to 350cc models.

HEY, GUYS, FREE TOOLS!

Sure there's a gimmick, but what better way to get dealers to stock an item? Maleo Products, Inc., Dept. THE TOTAL TOTER

The Ranger Packrest is the newest addition to the Wixom Bros. Co. line. The travel case uses a key identical to that for Harley-Davidson 74 saddlebags, and is designed to not obstruct access to H-D bags. PRETTY SAFE

Twenty metalflake colors and an energy absorbing liner bonded to the shell with a special epoxy adhesive for extra strength and hardness are the chief selling features of the new Grant safety helmet. RITE? RIGHT!

New from Rite Autotronics Corp., Dept. CW-12, 5978 Bowcraft St., Los Angeles, CA 90016, is an ammeter of solid state construction designed for use in setting generator and alternator voltage regulators and cutouts. The instrument, priced at approximately $15, aids in location of electrical current drain — which may lead to exhausted batteries, hard starting, and inefficient operation of electricals. The ammeter can be used with either 6or 12-V systems, and positive or negative grounds. The unit is supplied with color coded leads. (Continued on page 24)

PACKAGED PIZZAZZ

Packets of power for Honda engines, from 50 to 450 cc inclusive, are available from Poweroll Performance, Dept. CW12, P.O. Box 926, Bend. OR 97701. The firm offers both big-bore, stroker, and racing piston kits for the complete line of Honda powerplants. Prices vary, but prospective customers can get an idea of the cost range by taking as an example Poweroll's Big-Bore Kit No. 0560 for the 50-cc engine. The kit includes wrist pin. teflon pin retainers, head gasket, piston, rings, clips, and re-boring of the purchasers cylinder to oversize dimension. The tab is a very reasonable $19, plus shipping charges. A similar kit and re-boring job for a 90-cc engine costs $32.95, plus freight. Parts and re-boring kits for Honda two-cylinder engines vary in price from approximately $55 to $72.50. Parts and boring raise displacement of 150s and 160s to 175 cc, 250s to 266 cc, and 450s to 475 cc. Power and torque increases are proportionate to raised piston displacement.

Poweroll's stroker kits increase engine stroke without use of spacers or extensions. The buyer's connecting rod is shrunk to compensate for tdc overstroke. Rod bearing retainers are bisected into mated segments for installation over the stroked crankpin. Needle bearings are gauged to assure a precise match. Bearing tolerances are maintained at 0.0001 in. The stroked crankpin is pressed into rebalanced flyweights per factory specification. Cylinder bottoms are notched for rod clearance. Skirting pistons for flyweight clearance completes the stroker operation. Prices vary with displacement. Poweroll offers a complete catalog of parts and machining services, with specifications and prices, for $1.25.

One of two Helmet-Lok sizes will accommodate any helmet on the market.

The Helmet-Lok chain slips throueh the chinstrap D-ring; the protector fits over the strap and ear flap. The zinc-plated chain is then attached to the motorcycle with the supplied padlock.

HODAKA HEATERS

The four-page leaflet lists such excitement generators as Forgedtrue pistons, Webco cylinder heads, exhaust expansion chambers, carburetor adaptors, air cleaners. Ceriani racing forks and rear shock absorbers, Girling rear shocks, number plates, offset bolt-on sprockets, handlebars, control levers, fenders and braces, skidplates, grips, and ignition systems, among other items. The Hodaka catalog, which offers a spark plug heat range comparison chart as an added fillip, will be sent in exchange for 25c. The complete Webco catalog, 80 pages of dreamstuff, is priced at $1.

RIDER READING

A new product among the offerings from Mondial, Motorcycles of Milan, is a 90-cc lightweight machine. The ohv fourcycle engine mounts a flywheel magneto, plus a generator-battery system for positive lighting. Paint is in blue and gold; 19-in. wheels are standard. Clarice Arnberg, who has spent 16 years working for others in the motorcyclist leather garment trade, now has established her own firm, ABC Custom Leathers, Dept. CW-12, 9840 S. Atlantic Ave., South Gate, CA 90280.

ABC aims to provide custom tailoring service, freedom of choice in color and style, and, with detailed measurements, mail order service. The dial reading feature eliminates confusion as to whether that reading in "thousandths" is plus or minus. The tolerence dial is adjustable. The instrument is made of ground stainless steel.
