YAMAHA TRAIL 50
Latest news from the Yamaha International Corp. tells of their new “Omaha Trail 50,” a 50cc, twostroke trail machine with many new and interesting features. According to the makers the bike was perfected after lengthy tests in Japan and in the Western U.S. The reason given for the rather strange name is that the name is “steeped in early American cowboy folklore and because the bike was tested under the most severe mountain and desert conditions.”
Specifications are: 50cc, 1.58" bore, 1.58" stroke, single cylinder, two-stroke engine rated at 5 hp @ 7000 rpm and a 7.4 compression ratio. Three-speed gear box, a top speed of 25 mph with the large rear sprocket, 170 mpg fuel consumption, a final drive gear ratio of 5.1, with a quick-change rear sprocket. Dimensions are: 68" long, 37Vi" tall, weight 139 lbs., and ground clearance 5lA". List price is $275.00, POE Los Angeles, Calif. The first shipment of these machines was due on the West Coast in April, and we will probably be seeing a lot of this new machine in the future. •
