Husqvarna Nuda 900R

HUSQVARNA'S TWIN-CYLINDER, SUPER-moto-inspired streetbike has entered its final stage of development and been given an official name: Nuda 900R.

Powered by a special 900cc version of BMW's F800 parallel-Twin, this naked roadster (Nuda means "naked" in Italian) is said to produce more than 100 horsepower. The engine is harnessed in a steel-tube trellis frame and supported by an inverted 48mm Sachs fork and a cantilevered Ohlins shock directly actuated by a massive, extruded aluminum swingarm.

Styling is inspired by the Mule 3 con cept bike unveiled at EICMA in 2010. Raffaele Zaccagnini is the man behind the sharp lines that give the Nuda 900R a strong, unmistakably Husqvarna per sonality.

No official figures are currently avail able, but the bike is reported to be very light, possibly weighing less than 375 pounds, and capable of brisk accelera tion with agile, surefooted handling.

A production version of the Niidà~ 900R will be unveiled at EICMA later this year. -Bruno dePrato
