HARLEY-DAVIDSON FORTY-EIGHT

ANOTHER DOWN-AND-DIRTY MODEL HAS BEEN added to Harley-Davidson's Dark Custom

line. The new Forty-Eight is a 1200cc hot-rod Sportster, harking back to a classic era that began even before the original Sportster was introduced in 1957. The Forty-Eight's name pays tribute to the "peanut" fuel tank that Harley first fitted to a motorcycle in 1948.

Simple, dark and stylish describes the Forty-Eight. From the 2.1-gallon tank, single seat, side-mount license plate, fat front tire, chopped rear fender, slammed rear suspension and a low, 26-inch seat height, the Forty-Eight follows in the footsteps of the Nightster, Iron 883, Cross Bones, Fat Bob and Street Bob Dark Customs. More black is better.

Power comes from a blacked-out and polished, rubber-mounted, fuel-injected, Evolution Twin with chrome, shorty dual exhaust pipes.

Available in Vivid Black, Brilliant Silver and Mirage Orange Pearl, pricing for the Forty Eight starts at $10,499. -Blake Conner
