HUNGRY FOR ASPHALT?
Cookbook author, cinematographer and motorcycle enthusiast Alton Brown’s television show, “Feasting on Asphalt,” is scheduled to premier on the Food Network July 29. The series traces Brown’s trip across the U.S. on a BMW R1200RT in search of meals made from what lives under logs (“grubs are great protein”) to modern fast food. Why a motorcycle? “As far as I’m concerned, there’s no better way to experience the road than from the back of a bike,” says Brown. Tune in and grab a snack.
ROSSI RETURNS
Yamaha has confirmed that Valentino Rossi will stay with the Japanese factory for the 2007 MotoGP season. Many expected the seven-time world champ to move to Formula One with Ferrari. Instead, Rossi will spearhead development of Yamaha’s new 800cc MotoGP racer. “I believe I have made the right choice,” said the 27-year-old Italian, “and I am very excited about the challenge of a new class of racing with Yamaha next year.”

HOORAY FOR SNAIL MAIL
Thirty-nine cents fora 1918 Cleveland? That’s what the U.S. Postal Service is charging for a stamp that commemorates the lightweight Single. The stamp, along with three others-a 1940 Indian Four, a 1965 HarleyDavidson Electra Glide and a 1970s-era chopper-will be unveiled August 7 at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. The stamps will be available nationwide the following day. Three of the four stamps are digital illustrations modeled after restorations. The fourth is a computer-generated image created by the artist in consultation with a professional chopper builder.
