That's what you get with the Pinlock Visor Insert, a revolutionary product that eliminates-yes,eliminates-faceshield fogging. It’s so effective that you may even try to come up with ways to defeat it.

A product of the Netherlands, the patented, moisture-absorbing Pinlock is pretty much standard equipment overseas. In Europe and Japan, most of the popular helmet-makers sell their products with the insert already installed or the shields pre-drilled and fitted with the eccentric pins that hold the insert in place. Other manufacturers offer it as an accessory.

Installation on the inside of a pinequipped shield is a snap. Simply remove the insert’s protective film, butt the grooved edge against the corresponding pin, bend the shield until it is nearly flat and slip the other end of the insert into place. A full-circumference silicone bead forms an air-tight seal.

Because the inserts can scratch, handling requires the same care that you would give your faceshield. They can be cleaned using liquid soap, lukewarm water and a soft, damp cloth, then left to dry on their own. Further, the inserts are applicationand brand-specific. The Arai model, for example, has cutouts for vents, while the Superbike version, intended for HJC and Shoei helmets, extends higher up the shield to eliminate the top-of-shield gap.
