SUPERMOTO’S QUANTUM LEAP?
Supermoto’s spectacular action and sideways style has captured the attention of lots of people, both here and abroad. Adding to the buzz is the all-new Synergy Motorsports Q450, which is claimed to be the most exotic and technologically advanced machine ever developed for this form of racing. Retailing for an eye-popping $20,000, the 225pound machine features a carbon-fiber frame/airbox and swingarm, height-adjustable titanium subframe and composite bodywork. To improve mass centralization and lower the bike’s center of gravity, the gas tank is located beneath the seat, while oil and water are stored in an aluminum cradle under the engine. The electric-start, fuel-injected, four-valve, dohc, 445cc Single is also an in-house design. It features a reversed cylinder head that locates the intake up front and the exhaust out back. Synergy (www.synergymotorsports.com) plans to produce 100 examples in the coming year.
