Code R.A.C.E. School
CW EVALUATIONS
Controlled competition
DO YOU DREAM OF TAKING TO THE GRID for your first roadrace, only to put it off time and again because of the large number of serious-looking participants in the Novice class, or because of the in-timidating nature of the track itself?
The Code Race and Competition Experience, a new program created by California Superbike School founder Keith Code, may offer the solution. The two-day course will set you back $1600 if you bring your own machine, or $2200 if you plan on riding one of the school’s Dunlop-shod Kawasaki ZX-6Rs.
The school offers burgeoning racers an opportunity to gain on-track experience in a relaxed, non-points-paying environment. It’s Code’s hope to reach a wide audience, especially experienced street riders who are keen to try roadracing, but for whatever reason haven’t made the final step.
The program is loaded with unique features. For example, students can compare their braking prowess with that of the instructors via computerized deceleration graphs, and gain insights into their abilities via on/offbike video and coaching notes. Classes are small, and the atmosphere There are usually students per instructor, encouraged.
Toward the end of the second day, all the practice culminates in an actual, noholds-barred race, flagged off by none other than Code himself. As a result, students leave Code R.A.C.E. with competition experience under their belts, not to mention a good bit more riding knowledge under their helmets.□
