First fruits of the recent Kawasaki/Suzuki alliance are four small-bore models, all likely to remain in Japan. Suzuki’s supermotard-style 250SB is a rebadged Kawasaki D-Tracker, while the GSX250FX naked-bike began life as a Ballius II. Kawasaki, meanwhile, gave Suzuki’s Skywave 250 scooter and Epicuro 150 similar makeovers. “The initial sharing of models will help us further expand the increasing popularity of the youth, off-road and competition segments, while maintaining the dominance of our brand in supersport and street categories,” said an American Suzuki spokesman.

WORLD DUCATI WEEK

With two successful World Ducati Weekends and Ducati Revs America behind them, the folks at Ducati have decided to extend the 2002 edition to a full week. The first-ever World Ducati Week will kick off at the Autódromo Santamonica in Misano, Italy, on Friday, June 14, and run through the World Superbike races there on Sunday, June 23. In between, attendees can enjoy the beautiful Adriatic seaside at designated Ducati beaches, and watch the start and finish of the resurrected Motogiro d’ltalia, which will run from Sunday the 16th through Friday the 21 st.
