WARDY SECOND AT INDY
Seven-time national motocross champ Jeff Ward finished a stunning second in last May’s Indianapolis 500. For his efforts, the 38-year-old Californian netted $583,150. “I wanted to win this one,” confessed Ward, who took home rookie-of-the-year honors at Indy in 1997. “But once I got loose, I couldn’t get around (race-winner Kenny Brack). I’m happy with second.” A full-timer in the Indy Racing League, Ward also finished second in the MCI WorldCom 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. He is currently second in points.
