ACE IN THE HOLE

Looking to fill a gap in its V-Twin cruiser lineup, Honda recently unveiled its final offering for 1997, the Shadow ACE 750.

Honda’s latest boulevard bike looks long and meaty, with a stretched, 3.4-gallon fuel tank and a fat, 170/80-15 rear tire. Al-

though the European model shown here features a tank-mounted instrument nacelle, the U.S. version will have its gauges located above the headlight, complementing the bike’s already clean lines.

With a long-stroke 745cc motor loosely based on that of the 583cc Shadow VLX, the ACE 750 has been tuned to offer “strong V-Twin feel,” meaning lots and lots of low-end torque with plenty of flywheel.

Available in standard (shown) and chromedipped Deluxe versions, the yet-to-be-prlced cruiser will arrive at Honda dealers in May as an early-release 1998 model.
