NEW 900SS DUCKS ON THE WAY

ROUNDUP

DUCATI'S 900SS, CURrently in its fifth model year, is due for an update. It will come in the form of a new SS sometime in 1996, says England’s Motor Cycle News.

Key changes include a major styling revamp and a series of upgrades for the current two-valve V-Twin, including partial liquid-cooling, ram-air induction and optional fuel injection.

The 900’s trademark trellis frame will be a holdover, but with the rear section beefed up to accommodate a single-sided swingarm.

New, six-spoke wheels are also online.

Ducat is Massimo Tamburini, the stylist behind the 916. penned the bodywork for the new SS, which features integral turnsignal/mirrors and twin cat s-eye headlights. It

will be available in half-faired

and fully faired forms. A Ducati insider said, “The styling must be attractive, but it must not steal the spotlight

from the 916. It has been designed to look classic, but also aggressive.”

Asked to comment on the new 900SS, Cagiva North America officials were fairly hush-hush, saying only, “There are many, many possibilities floating around... we have no decision at this time.”
