APRILIA'S MOTO' 6.5 COMES ALIVE
DETAILS ARE IN ON
Aprilia’s MOTO’ 6.5, although the explanation for why the company adds an apostrophe after MOTO remains elusive.
Aprilia describes the 6.5 as being “for people who want a motorcycle, but not a large, heavy one, who want to get
about the time freely and make short to medium trips without giving up the pleasure of a real motorcycle.” Okay...
Aprilia claims a dry weight of 320 pounds for its 6.5, which is powered by a 649cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke Single based on the engine used in the company’s dual-purpose Pegaso. Aprilia says revised cam profiles provide a more linear power delivery.
Housing the engine is a steel, oval-shaped frame, with a top box section that serves as the dry-sump engine’s oil reservoir. Much of the l-into-2 exhaust is hidden between the lower frame tubes, with two short, small mufflers showing on either side of the bike.
To further enhance the MOTO’ experience, Aprilia will sell apparel and accessories. At current exchange rates, the MOTO’ would sell for about $7200. A company spokesman says there are no plans to sell the bike in the U.S. -Robert Hough
