NEW GSX-R750 A YEAR AWAY
EUROPEAN RUMORS SUGgest Suzuki will dramatically rework its GSX-
R750 for the 1996 model year, switching to an alloy beam frame, away from its long-used
double-cradle design.
Suzuki engineers have reportedly set a target weight of 400 pounds, which would be 39 pounds lighter than the current model. As weight goes down, horsepower will apparently go up; insiders expect about 10 more ponies over the current
GSX-R, which made 99 horsepower on the CW dyno.
In order to boost European interest in the new bike, Suzuis said to be considering a GSX-R racing series to be run throughout the continent, simito the GSX-R Cup series in this country, as well as a factory-supported World Superbike effort. -Robert Hough
