Cycle World gets busted? Those words appeared on this month's cover, highlighted in orange type. The story, by Associate Editor Dan Hunt, detailed the adventures of Hunt and Assis tant Editor Bryon Farnsworth, both of whom were cited for speeding (35 mph in a 25-mph zone!) while testing a Yamaha XS650 and a Triumph T100C in the Malibu mountains. Hunt and Farnsworth fought the tickets, winning the case based on insufficient evidence. And you can bet we feel pretty damn good about it," Hunt wrote.
• Six production motorcycles were reviewed in this issue. This eclectic collection consisted of the Laverdabased twin-cylinder American Eagle 750 SS, a quartet of 175cc and 200cc Bultaco Sherpas and Suzuki’s budget-priced, rotary-valve TS90 Honcho.
• A revamped Suzuki TR500 was the subject of this month’s exclusive feature, “What Does Suzuki Have Up Its Sleeve?” With its positive handling attributes and a reported top speed of 152 mph, the fully faired, twin-cylinder roadracer established itself, according to Editor Ivan Wagar, as a “contender for the winner’s laurels." In an accompanying sidebar, ex-CZ stars Joel Robert and Sylvain Geboers tried Suzuki’s new RH70 at the Fuji motocross course. Robert raved about the bike, saying it was “the best, most responsive machine I’ve ever ridden.” Geboers, then 24 years old, agreed. Matthew Miles
