SIDI INTERSTATE BOOTS

Expensive, but worth it

No ONE SAID THAT QUALITY RIDING gear was inexpensive. Take the street-riding boots displayed here, for instance. Interstate models from Sidi, distributed by Acerbis USA (9402-A Wheatlands Ct., Santee, CA 92071; 619/562-1440), they cost a pulse-quickening $210, but, as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for.

And what you pay for, in this case, is a top-quality leather boot that is fully glove-leather lined. Rubbercomposition soles provide excellent grip on slippery pavement at stop lights, don’t slip around on the bike’s footpegs, and cushion impact to the wearer's feet when walking. Nicely rounded toes fit the rider’s feet comfortably without pinching. Getting into the calf-length Interstates is hassle-free, thanks to a heavyduty zipper placed on the outside of each boot upper. A wide, velcro-closed weather flap keeps water and wind away from the zippers and lends the Interstates a smooth appearance. Walking comfort is boosted by flex-panels positioned at the rear-ankle areas.

It’s not often that we evaluate an item that we can’t find something to complain about. But Sidi’s Interstate boots are just such a product. Available only in black, sizes 8-12, the Interstates can be found at motorcycle and accessory dealers.
