DUCATI UPGRADES ITS 8-VALVES

Ducati’s 851s are gone, and in their places are

888s. The company has done some juggling, and

the result is that last year’s four-bike 851 line

has been trimmed to three: the single-injector-per-

cylinder 888 Strada, which in the U.S. will be known as

the 888 SPO and which comes with a solo seat and high

pipes; the SP5, which is basically a Strada carrying a

double-injector Corsa motor; and the Corsa, the full-

bore Doug Polen replica. At presstime, the Strada’s list

price had not yet been set, and Cagiva North America

had not decided whether to bring the SP5 or Corsa to

the U.S. Ducati’s other big Twin, the air-and-oil-cooled

900SS, receives a change in the color of its frame and

a graphics update for ’93. It is priced at $9150.
