REPLACEMENT ELECTRONIC IGNITION
A new solid state capacitive discharge ignition system that may be used with existing motorcycle electrical components is now available. The G-C Electronics CD system converts normal battery voltage to approximately 500 volts, allowing secondary voltages as high as 70,000 volts. This high energy output means the current builds to firing potential 15 to 30 times faster than with conventional battery ignition. Also, point and spark plug life is greatly extended, along with an increase in engine efficiency due to the faster, more stable spark. The unit measures 3.5 in. square, and is vibration-resistant and waterproof. The standard coil, points, and spark plugs are retained; only the addition of the CD box and minor rewiring are required.
