A.R.D. MAGNETOS

Shown is an A.R.D. magneto for BSA unit-construction Twins which is being manufactured for both road and racing machines. Also available is a similar unit for late model Triumph twin-cylinder machines.

The magneto units were developed to eliminate the old problem of a battery and coils on racing machines, and to produce a hotter spark throughout the rev range.

The A.R.D. magneto is a bolt-on unit which includes the timing case, drive belt and magneto unit itself. The magneto is driven by a toothed belt that will never stretch and needs no lubrication or adjustment. A twin-cylinder magneto is used which runs on ball and roller bearings and features a twin lead coil with one set of points. It is a specially assembled Fairbanks-Morse unit using production parts.

Drive for the magneto unit is taken from the tapered shaft where the original points were installed. The rubber reinforced fiberglass belt runs on specially machined toothed aluminum pulleys.

Magneto cases are made from a special casting pattern and only virgin aluminum is used.

Price for the Triumph magneto is $125 and the BSA unit is priced at $130. For further information, or to order, write to Allan D’Alo, A.R.D. Engineering, Dept. CW-12, 3042 No. San Gabriel Blvd., Rosemead, CA 91770.

SILICONE SEAL

General Electric’s new Silicone Seal is becoming increasingly popular with bike riders and mechanics, and with good reason. Silicone Seal is an all-purpose adhesive/sealant that has extreme temperature tolerance and resists moisture seepage. It is used in racing to make gaskets, seal electrical parts and keep the dust off sensitive instruments.

The Silicone Seal rubber adhesive/ sealants have a heat resistance of up to 500 degrees F under continuous operating conditions, and can withstand temperatures below -75 degrees F.

General Electric manufactures a full line of one part adhesive/sealants in various colors and viscosities.

Webco, Inc. announces their new foot brake conversion kit for the popular Honda mini-trail series. This new conversion kit changes the existing hand-operated rear brake from the left handlebar to a foot-operated pedal on the right side, similar to conventional full-size motorcycles.

Three precision-machined pieces, which make up the kit, attach to a standard Honda mini-trail without any alterations except removing the rear brake cable from the machine.

SUZUKI SNOWMOBILE

The Suzuki Nomad snowmobile is built to the exacting standards of quality that Suzuki engineers demand of their motorcycles, which have a worldwide reputation for lasting under the toughest conditions.

Beneath the Nomad’s high-impact fiberglass cowling is a 360-cc, air-cooled powerplant made by the world’s largest manufacturer of two-cycle engines. It’s an engine that ends overheating and vapor-lock because it has a special exhaust system that rapidly dissipates heat and a big fully enclosed fan that washes the engine with cool air. It also has dual coil ignition for sure firing and a carburetor with adjustable jets which allows precise tuning.

The steering mechanism turns on the same type of ball joint found on many aircraft and is as smooth and precise as a fine sports car. Better weight distribution, aided by the rear-mounted fuel tank, helps get the engine’s power to the ground via a 15-in. wide, steel-reinforced rubber track. Non-recoil bogie wheels help keep each wheel of the track moving straight under the toughest conditions and big, calipertype disc brakes assure smooth, safe stops.

Suggested retail is $895 with a manual starter and $995 with an electric starter.

For further information, see your local Suzuki dealer or write to U.S. Suzuki Motor Corp., Dept CW-12, 13767 Freeway Dr., Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670.
