ARAI QUANTUM-X AND SIGNET-X HELMETS

Perfecting fit for all
Sean MacDonald
The Quantum-X and Signet-X enter Arai's lineup as its top offerings for the more street-focused rider. Technology all comes from the race-inspired Corsair-X, but these helmets use some lower spec materials to keep the price down (with the unfortunate side effect of adding a little weight).
Each helmet gets the new VAS shield and latch system from the Corsair-X, which simplifies swapping the new VAS Max vision visor. Both get a new shell shape, which allows for more room at the snout, and revised chin and forehead air ducts and rear exhaust channels that make for better flow-through performance.
The helmets are identical in features, so why two models? Fit. Arai knows that, after passing safety standards, fit is the second most important thing when choosing a helmet. The Quantum-X and Signet-X are the same helmet, created to fit two different head shapes.
The Quantum-X is for you round-oval people and is closer in shape to Arai’s original fit. Its shell and internal padding have been developed to be more
snug and comfortable for a rounder head.
Similarly, the Signet-X is for us long-oval-head-shaped people. The interior shape of the Signet-X allowed me to drop down a helmet size, which results in a quieter ride with less buffeting and wind noise. Also, a more snug fit results in improved protection in the event of impact.
Find yourself in between the two? Arai says that using the long-oval head liner from the Signet-X in the rounder Quantum-X shell results in a fit in between the two helmets and has a fit similar to that of the Corsair-X.
Top-notch finish and features—and now the perfect fit.
