WUNDERLICH MADUSA: AN S1000R BEFORE THERE WAS AN S1000R
CW FIRST RIDE
While the production BMW S1000R was merely a grainy silhouette in some bad spy shots last year, exquisite German-made accessories importer Wunderlich USA got down to business stripping down an S1000RR superbike and making the crazy standard we all wanted. They called it MadUSA (crazy in America, they said...) and let us ride it, the bike gracing the cover of our February 2013 issue. Its extensive parts list (the finest bhlins suspension, Remus exhaust, and many, many other finely crafted parts from Wunderlich) pushed price for this custom to about $35K. Now you can get a production version from BMW for considerably less. -Mark Hoyer
