ROUNDUP

UP To a new year, for giving us the excuse to replace our old calendar with this fantastic 2013 "Milestones: An Isle of Man Road Races Calendar." We, like many of you, would be perfectly happy flipping through 12 months of motorcycle action from the IOM TT, but isn't an artsy, conceptual interpretation of famous and not-so-famous TT events that are cleverly and humorously reenacted by semi-nude and nude model (and calendar creator) Rachael Clegg better? Yes, it's racy, but also very tastefully done, and we would bet that at least 50 percent of your significant others would agree and let you hang it in the back corner of your garage. Clegg—whose father (Noel) and grandfather (Tom) were TT competitors—shows that she's not just another pretty...well, you get the point. Captions describe events that not only inspired the photo but which, in many cases, coined the nickname of the corner or section of road that TT fans have become so familiar with. Each page features a course map showing where that image's depicted event occurred. The 13~/4 x 1 51/2-in. calendar is available for 25 British pounds (including international postage) from www.rachaelclegg.com.

UP To AT&T, for putting its corporate boot down on texting while driving. The telecommunications giant is calling on all drivers-no matter what kind of vehicle they operate-to `make a lifelong commitment to never text and drive," the goal being to make behind-the wheel messaging as culturally unacceptable as drinking and driving. This latest crusade is an extension of AT&T's "It Can Wait" campaign, which was launched in 2009 and has focused on a simple message: No text is worth dying for. To make your pledge, log on to www.itcanwait.org.

DOWN To the Cold War, for keeping motorcyclists out of Cuba for so long. Finally, however, motorcycle adventurers can legally explore the previously forbidden island with MotoDiscovery. The Texas-based tour company has been granted a r U.S. Department of Treasury-issued license to operate 10to 15-day tours through March of 2013. "Motorcycle touring to exotic locations provides an active and participatory kind of travel experience," said MotoDiscovery founder Skip Mascorro. "Unconventional travel destinations such as Cuba are far more rewarding when accomplished on a motorcycle."

Christopher P Baker, award-winning writer and author of Mi Moto Fidel, Motorcycling Castro's Cuba, will join the MotoDiscovery team on select dates as a special VIP guest. For more information, visit www.motodiscovery.com.
