NHTSA Recall No. 11V108000 Manufacturer: American Suzuki Motor Co. Models: 2008-'09 Burgman 400, DL1000 V-Strom, 1250 Bandit, GSX-R600, GSXR750, GSX650, C109 Boulevard; 2008-10 Hayabusa, C50/M50 Boulevard; 2009-10 Gladius, C90/M90 Boulevard Number of units involved: 73,426 Problem: On certain of these motorcycles built between July, 2007, and September, 2009, the regulator/rectifiers had insufficient adhesion between the circuit board and the rectifier case that contains a heat sink, allowing heat generated on the circuit board to make the board deform and lift off the case. This causes excessive heat on the board and uncontrolled current output, resulting in insufficient charging current for the battery. Discharge of the battery can lead to engine stalling and/or a nostart condition. Stalling while riding can increase the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the regulator/rectifier with an improved part free of charge. Owners not receiving this remedy can call Suzuki at 714/996-7040.

NHTSA Recall No. 11V081000 Manufacturer: Bombardier Recreational Products Inc.

Model: 2011 Can-Am Spyder RT SM5 Number of units involved: 160 Problem: Due to a defective reverse actuator cable on certain of these threewheel motorcycles, it may be possible to inadvertently engage reverse while downshifting without depressing the reverse button. If this happens while the vehicle is moving forward, the rear wheel could lock and the engine could stall. If this happens while the vehicle is stopped, the vehicle could back up. A vehicle stall without warning or an unexpected movement in reverse could increase the risk of a crash. Remedy: Dealers will validate proper operation of the reverse actuator. If defective, the actuator assembly will be replaced free of charge. Owners not receiving this remedy can call BRP at 888/638-5397.

NHTSA Recall No. 11V037000 Manufacturer: Harley-Davidson Motor Co. Models: 2011 Softails Number of units involved: 6964 Problem: On certain of these motorcycles manufactured between June 7 and October 8,2010, the body control modules (BCM) have a case that may not have been properly sealed during production. An improper seal may allow water to enter the BCM, which could cause the engine to stall. An engine stall in traffic can result in a crash. Remedy: Dealers will replace the BCM free of charge. Owners not receiving this remedy can call H-D at 414/343-4056.
