Delectable Ducati

When GoDaddy.com CEO and founder Bob Parsons married Renee LaBelle last October, he didn’t want to leave his Ducati Streetfighter at home. The solution was this 400pound Groom’s cake designed by “Ace of Cakes” Chef/TV star Duff Goldman. Made from layered yellow cake, the Ducati delight even featured working head/taillights and smoking exhaust pipes. Payment to Goldman came in the form of a real Ducati Monster and matching riding gear. Not bad pay for baking a cake.

Kids In Spotlight

Recipients of the 2009 AMA Motorcyclist of the Year award were a unique selection, as a group instead of an individual stole the spotlight. “The AMA Motorcyclist of the Year is the person or persons who have had the most profound impact on motorcycling in a single calendar year,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “Although they were unwitting victims, kid motorcycle and ATV riders were thrust into that role in 2009.” They were put there by the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s enforced ban on selling youth-model off-highway vehicles due to lead-content restrictions. “This devastating ban could potentially cast aside the hopes and dreams of thousands of young riders and their families,” Dingman said. “It is our duty to protect those dreams and re-establish the permanent access that young riders have to youthmodel OHVs.”

Pininfarina Lid

Better known for its sleek and aerodynamic automobile bodies, Pininfarina was recently commissioned by luxury helmet proprietor Newmax (www.newmax.it) to design the Air Flow concept. Not only is the shape of the helmet optimized to cut through the wind efficiently, the interior was designed to provide the wearer with maximum comfort.

But what makes the Air Flow unique is that the outer surface is a technical fabric wrapped around a shell designed to extract moisture from within, while being impermeable to moisture from outside. No word yet on production of the helmet or if it will meet worldwide helmet standards.
