HOMEBREWS
Does the interior of your helmet smell like an NFL locker room-after the game? Have swirling exhaust fumes from your bike’s under-seat exhaust given your backpack or riding jacket the stench of burned hydrocarbons? If so, there’s cheap and easy help: Spray them with Febreze, the household odor eliminator available at any grocery store or supermarket. Febreze doesn’t cover up odors with a fragrance: it’s a neutralizer that instead absorbs and dissipates odors. You just spray the affected item, let it sit overnight or until dry, and the bad smells are gone. In severe cases, a second application may be necessary. I’ve-used Febreze to kill all kinds of odors, including a gas spill during a fillup that doused my shoes with 91 octane when the pump’s automatic shutoff failed to work. I sprayed the shoes with Febreze when I arrived home, and by morning, the Eau de Chevron they had acquired was gone. Once you try Febreze, you’ll find many uses for it, and not just in the garage.
