MONSTER MADNESS

Ducati’s Monster S4RS too rich for your blood? Consider the 2007 Monster S4R Testastretta. Like the top-line RS, the same 130-horsepower 999-sourced Testastretta deep-sump V-Twin is at the heart of the the S4R, but the lower $12,995 price comes as a result of the more cost-effective fully adjustable inverted Showa fork (with radial-mount Brembo calipers) and a fully adjustable Sachs shock. The lean, mean streetfighter is said to have shed nearly 10 pounds compared to the previous S4R and is available in a titanium/red color scheme that is unique to this model.

SAME OL’ BUSA...

We were prepared for a blockbuster; Suzuki luring us to its Las Vegas dealer convention with promise of a sneak preview of an all-new Hayabusa. The 1300 remains unchanged for ’07, but we’d be shown a concept ’Busa, precursor to a 2008 Hyper-Busa. We had hoped to leave Sin City with photos and specs of the ’08 model, but left empty-handed and hung over. A shadowy video was all that was shown, with the promise of more information at the June, 2007, dealer meeting.

OUR KIND OF DOCUMENTARY

Rev up your remote because Speed on Two Wheels ($25) is now available on DVD. This extended version features riding tips from CW Contributing Editor Nick lenatsch, plus on-track insights from AMA Superbike regulars Mat Mladin, Tommy and Roger Lee Hayden, Aaron Yates and former series champion Reg Pridmore. Rounding out the hour is BMW head historian Fred Jakobs’ overview of the early years of motorcycling and a tour of the Ducati factory led by none other than designer Pierre Terblanche and museum curator Livo Lido. _~_ Dual-plug cylinder heads that improve combustion and reduce emissions aren't the only update to the 2007 Suzuki SV650. As with the Bandit 1 250S, the V-Strom 650 and the Burgman 650 Executive scooter, ABS is available on both the standard model and the clip on-equipped half-faired SV-S.
