ToolTime
You might not think of wax as a “tool,” but if you’re serious about keeping your bike’s paint looking like new, that’s precisely what it is. In which case, Meguiar’s has a new liquid wax that may help make your paint look even better than new. It’s Tech Wax, a remarkable Product that will put a shine on your ride you flat won’t believe.
In my garage at home, I have more than a dozen different brands of high-quality wax, most of them capable of laying an impressive gloss on any paint that is reasonably salvageable. But Tech Wax puts them all on the trailer. It deepens the color and leaves the paint truly looking “wet”-which some other waxes claim to do but don’t quite pull off. It also makes those little swirls and tiny scratches that develop on most painted surfaces disappear. The wax left the gas tank on my 1990 Honda VFR750 looking absolutely liquid, and it put a shine on the other body pieces they haven’t seen since the bike rolled out of the crate 15 years ago. It had an equivalent effect on my car, and it even made the weather-worn paint on my old van look better than it has since W’s daddy was in the White House. Plus, it goes on and wipes off with amazing ease for a wax that leaves behind such a miraculous shine.
Meguiar’s doesn’t exactly give this stuff away: Most retailers ask $15 or $16 for it. What’s important, though, isn’t what the auto parts stores get for Tech Wax but what you get: the best shine your bike, car or truck is going to have short of applying an expensive new paint job. -Paul Dean
