APRILIA SVX SM: A TASTY CONCEPT
On the heels of Aprilia's world chamionship in Supermoto's S2 class comes this computer illustration of what the four-stroke 450cc Twin could look like in road trim. Sort of a dirtrider’s Tuono, the SVX SM gets a headlight fairing, “hugger” rear fender and a new underseat exhaust to complete the conversion from track to street. The cool, combined aluminum/steel truss frame remains.
An Aprilia PR-type suggests that if you’re holding your breath to buy such a machine, be prepared to hold it for a while: “While the V-Twin powerplant will make for a great street application, the engine is engineered at this time primarily for racing, so a streethomologation version would be some way off—you’ll see off-road versions first. But you can’t deny that this style of bike is becoming much more accepted in the market. Just look at all the other new entries coming from other manufacturers.”
Our collarbones are already tingling!
